Azad Kashmir Traders' Body Distances Itself From Banned JAAC

MUZAFFARABAD: A traders’ association in Azad Kashmir announced on Monday that it has severed ties with the banned Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) and decided to reopen businesses and shops in the region.
Nasir Arbab, secretary-general of the Arja Traders Association in Bagh district, made the announcement in a video message.

He said the association had decided to reopen shops after consultations with its elected leadership.

More than 700 shops operate in Arja, according to the association.

Arbab urged traders across Azad Kashmir to resume business activities and distance themselves from the banned JAAC.

He said the association decided to end its affiliation because of what he described as the committee’s “extremist attitude.”

Arbab also called on traders across the region to disassociate themselves from the group.

He urged the Bagh district administration to ensure the security of traders reopening their businesses.
