Man Listed as Missing by BYC Identified as Suicide Attacker in Jiwani Camp Strike

GWADAR:  In a shocking twist to Saturday’s deadly suicide attack on a Pakistan Coast Guard camp in Jiwani Tehsil, security sources have revealed that the bomber was previously listed as an “enforced disappearance” by the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), a prominent rights group that documents missing persons in the province.

The attacker, identified as Attaullah, son of Ghazi Khan, a resident of Awaran district, had been featured on the BYC’s widely circulated list of Baloch citizens who have reportedly gone missing at the hands of state agencies. However, according to security officials, the initial investigation has now established that the same individual was, in reality, an active militant belonging to the Baloch Liberation Front (BLF).

The revelation has sparked intense debate, with security agencies pointing to what they describe as a “pattern” of militants exploiting the missing persons narrative to evade scrutiny. The BYC has yet to issue an official response to the development.

The attack itself involved a vehicle packed with explosives being driven into the Coast Guard camp, resulting in multiple casualties among personnel, according to initial reports. The Majeed Brigade of the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for the operation.

Authorities have launched a high-level investigation into how Attaullah transitioned from being listed as a missing person to carrying out a suicide bombing, while also probing whether other names on the BYC register have similar militant links.
