QUETTA :  In a landmark decision aimed at safeguarding student welfare, the Balochistan Education Department has imposed a complete ban on corporal punishment in all public and private educational institutions across the province, with a formal notification issued to enforce the directive.

Under the new order, no student will be subjected to physical punishment, including slapping, caning, or striking with any object. The notification also categorically prohibits humiliating, threatening, or mentally harassing students, classifying such actions as punishable offenses.

Moving away from violent disciplinary methods, the Education Department has directed teachers and school administrators to adopt a friendly, positive, and non-violent approach to maintain classroom discipline. Educators have been specifically instructed to cultivate a good-natured and supportive attitude toward students.

To ensure accountability, the notification mandates that every complaint regarding corporal punishment be investigated immediately, with a detailed report forwarded to the concerned District Education Officer. Additionally, all schools in Balochistan have been ordered to maintain a dedicated complaint register for documenting grievances.

As part of a broader awareness drive, the department will also organize sessions for teachers, parents, and students on children’s rights and positive discipline techniques.

The department has warned of strict departmental action against any teacher or official found violating the order, signaling a zero-tolerance stance on abuse in educational settings.
