Rangers to Escort Traders’ Goods in Balochistan After Rising BLA Robberies

Pakistan Military Says It Kills 133 "Indian-Sponsored" Terrorists in Balochistan Operations

QUETTA :  Additional Chief Secretary Home Balochistan, along with Commissioner Quetta Mehrullah Badini and Deputy Commissioner Mehrullah, has assured transporters and traders that a new system will be implemented soon to ensure the safe movement of goods vehicles across the province, following a wave of militant attacks blamed on the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).

The assurance came during a high-level meeting with office bearers of the All Balochistan Business Alliance and Action Committee at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Quetta. Attendees included Chamber President Haji Muhammad Ayub Mariani, LPG Association’s Syed Atiq Agha, Goods Truck Association President Haji Muhammad Noor Shahwani, Central Traders Association President Abdul Rahim Kakar, Bus Association’s Mir Daulat Lehri, Panjgur transporter Haji Akram, Haji Habibullah Badizai, and other representatives.

Transporters and the business community voiced grave alarm over a surge in BLA insurgent activities on Balochistan’s highways, including the burning of goods vehicles, LPG tankers, and passenger buses, alongside rising lootings and damage to critical bridge infrastructure. Participants demanded that the government provide effective security on all highways to protect transporters, passengers, importers, exporters, and the general public.

Sources revealed that BLA militants are systematically robbing goods and transport vehicles while extorting local traders—and killing Baloch locals who refuse to comply with their demands. The insurgent group has increasingly targeted economic lifelines, using coercion and violence to destabilise the province’s commercial activity.

Officials assured the business community that the government is finalising a comprehensive security mechanism to counter the militant threat and restore confidence in the province’s transport network.
