ISLAMABAD: Saudi Arabia and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have signed a strategic agreement to build a modern international-standard cricket stadium in Jeddah, a move that could pave the way for future Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches and international fixtures in the Kingdom.
The agreement was signed by Saudi Arabian Cricket Federation Chairman Prince Saud bin Mishal Al Saud and PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
In a statement, the PCB described the agreement as a historic milestone and said it marked the first strategic partnership between the two cricket bodies for the development of a cricket stadium in Saudi Arabia.
The PCB said the stadium will meet International Cricket Council (ICC) standards and feature modern facilities capable of hosting international matches and major cricket events.
Under the agreement, the PCB and the Saudi Arabian Cricket Federation will work together on infrastructure development, stadium planning, technical expertise and operational standards.
The PCB said the project will strengthen Saudi Arabia’s capacity to stage international cricket and support the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals by promoting sports investment, sports tourism, public participation and quality of life.
