MUZAFFARABAD: The traders and transport organizations in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) have announced that all business activities and transport services will resume fully from June 29, declaring that they will no longer participate in any strike or shutter-down campaign.
The announcement was made during a joint press conference held in Muzaffarabad, where representatives of traders and transporters stated that they had previously supported the Public Action Committee before it was declared banned. However, they emphasized that under the current circumstances, they no longer have any affiliation with the group.
The leaders made it clear that they could not become part of any activity directed against the Pakistan Army, the people of Pakistan, or the government. They said the support and assistance provided by Pakistan and state institutions during difficult times could not be overlooked or forgotten.
The representatives also distanced themselves from the ongoing activities in Rawalakot, stating that the individuals involved there do not represent the trader and transporter community.
They further noted that the issue of the 12 reserved seats is a constitutional matter and has no connection with traders or transport operators.
In this regard, the trader leader Gohar Kashmiri appealed to all business owners across Azad Kashmir to reopen their shops from June 29 and contribute to the complete restoration of commercial and economic activities in the region.
Meanwhile, normal life is gradually returning to different parts of Azad Kashmir. In Muzaffarabad, medical stores, fruit and vegetable shops, and bakeries remained open, while commercial centers in Mirpur, Bhimber, and several other areas, including locations in Neelum district, also resumed operations partially.
The announcement is expected to provide relief to residents and businesses affected by recent disruptions, as the restoration of trade and transport services is likely to improve the movement of goods, public mobility, and economic activity across the region.
The trader and transporter leadership expressed hope that the return to normal business operations would help stabilize the local economy and encourage a peaceful environment for commercial activities.
They urged all stakeholders to support efforts aimed at maintaining normalcy and ensuring uninterrupted business and transport services throughout Azad Kashmir.
