ISLAMABAD : President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, in separate messages to the nation on the Day of Ashura, emphasized the enduring lessons of patience, perseverance, sacrifice, truthfulness, and steadfastness to principles.
President Zardari described the tragedy of Karbala as more than a historical event, calling it a “permanent message and a living lesson.” He urged the nation to promote an atmosphere of peace, tolerance, respect, and brotherhood on this day, while cautioning against rumors and provocative behavior.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif echoed similar sentiments, stating that the Day of Ashura illuminates unparalleled lessons of faith, patience, sacrifice, and societal reform. He noted that the incident of Karbala conveys a clear message: adherence to principles and values is the foundation of a civilized society. He called for the promotion of qualities such as justice, patience, tolerance, and responsibility.
The Prime Minister further stressed that instead of division, hatred, and chaos, it is essential to foster respect and solidarity among the people.
