Government policy on housing revealed, cabinet gives important approval

ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet approved the National Housing Policy and its implementation action plan. The policy aims to provide sustainable, safe and quality housing to citizens, with emphasis on zoning regulations, vertical housing, energy efficiency and environmentally responsible construction.

In this regard, the members unanimously adopted a resolution commending the prime minister, Ishaq Dar and Field Marshal Asim Munir for their efforts to safeguard national interests and enhance Pakistan’s international standing.

The cabinet also welcomed the trilateral defence agreement as an important step towards greater unity among Muslim countries.

The cabinet was also briefed on progress under the Prime Minister’s Apna Ghar Scheme. So far, as per the loans worth Rs220 billion have been approved for applicants, while more than Rs32 billion has already been disbursed.

The meeting also approved the Pakistan Information Security Framework 2026, amendments to the Pakistan Oil Refining Policy 2023 and other decisions relating to energy, economic affairs and legislation.

Prime Minister Shehbaz said the people had expressed confidence in the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) during the first two phases of elections.

He said the party would pursue a programme of development and public welfare in the region.

He stressed that lawlessness could not be permitted in any civilised society and said political and public issues should be resolved through dialogue.

The government, he added, would take all possible measures to maintain peace and stability while addressing the concerns of the people.
