Iranian President Lands in Islamabad to Acknowledge Mediation Role

ISLAMABAD :  Iranian President Masoud Peshkeshian departed for Tehran on Tuesday, concluding a landmark two-day official visit to Pakistan that reaffirmed the deep-rooted fraternal ties between the two neighboring nations.

The distinguished guest was seen off at Noor Khan Airbase by a high-level Pakistani delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. The ceremonial farewell underscored the importance Islamabad places on its relationship with Tehran.

In a gesture of goodwill and diplomatic warmth, President Peshkeshian was presented with a special commemorative album, featuring memorable photographs captured during his engagements in Pakistan. The album serves as a tangible memento of what officials on both sides have termed a “productive and heartwarming” visit.

Speaking before his departure, President Peshkeshian expressed his profound gratitude to the Pakistani nation and its government for the “overwhelming welcome, warm hospitality, and exceptional love” extended to him and his delegation throughout their stay.

Reiterating his commitment to regional stability and cooperation, the Iranian leader voiced his firm determination to further strengthen the brotherly relations between Pakistan and Iran. He also expressed optimism for the future, hoping for enhanced multi-sectoral cooperation that would benefit the people of both countries.

While specific agreements were not detailed at the time of departure, the visit is widely seen as a significant step toward resetting diplomatic and economic engagement between the two Islamic republics.
