Gilgit-Baltistan is witnessing a significant political development as the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leadership moves forward with efforts to form the next regional government.
The PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has decided to nominate Amjad Advocate as the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan following internal consultations and evolving political alignments.
The decision was reinforced after a telephonic conversation between Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and PPP Gilgit-Baltistan President Amjad Advocate, during which the party chairman issued key directives regarding government formation and the implementation of constitutional and economic rights for the people of the region.
The Pakistan Peoples Party has emerged as the largest political party in Gilgit-Baltistan, securing 12 seats in the recent electoral process. This position has strengthened its claim in the government formation process.
Meanwhile, important political progress has been observed between PPP and the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz. Both parties have agreed to cooperate within the legislative assembly, indicating a notable shift towards political accommodation in the region.
The PML-N leader Hafeez ur Rehman announced that his party would support the PPP’s candidate in the election for the Leader of the House. He further stated that matters related to the Deputy Speaker and Governor would be settled under a broader federal framework.
PPP leaders have expressed gratitude for PML-N’s decision, describing it as a constructive step towards political stability and improved governance in the region.
