MANSEHRA: Flash floods in Mansehra and Battagram have killed at least two people and left two others missing after torrential rain triggered flooding in several areas, damaging houses, shops and roads and sweeping away livestock.
In Mansehra city and surrounding areas, a sudden spell of heavy rain accompanied by hail struck shortly before sunset, flooding roads and leaving several areas submerged.
During the downpour, a woman and a child were swept into a drain on Akbar Khan Road. Rescue officials later recovered the woman’s body near Bus stand, while the search for the missing child was continuing.
Flash floods in Mansehra and Battagram damage homes and roads
In Battagram’s Kund area of Allai tehsil, flash floods claimed the life of a five-year-old boy, while a seven-year-old girl was swept away by fast-moving floodwaters.
Battagram police said the flooding destroyed 15 houses and damaged several shops and homes in the affected area. Several livestock were also washed away by the rushing water.

The district administration responded by sending heavy machinery and rescue teams to the affected area to assist with relief and recovery efforts.
Rescue and relief operations were underway with the help of local residents as authorities continued efforts to locate the missing children and assess the damage caused by the floods.
