ISLAMABAD : In a significant diplomatic breakthrough, Pakistan has stepped into a pivotal mediating role as an advance delegation arrives in Switzerland to finalize arrangements for the formal signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the United States and Iran.
According to diplomatic sources, the Pakistani advance team, which includes senior officials from the Foreign Office, reached Switzerland earlier today. Their mandate is to iron out the final logistical protocols and diplomatic formalities for the landmark ceremony, signaling Islamabad’s deepening involvement in bridging the divide between the two long-standing adversaries.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to depart for Switzerland tomorrow morning to lead the Pakistani delegation at the event. His presence underscores Pakistan’s commitment to facilitating dialogue and ensuring the smooth execution of the agreement.
The formal signing ceremony is scheduled for June 19 in the scenic city of Bergenstock, Switzerland. Diplomatic sources confirm that representatives from several other countries are also expected to attend, highlighting the international community’s keen interest in the rapprochement.
While the specific contents of the MoU remain under wraps, the high-level participation and Pakistan’s active role suggest a major step toward de-escalation and renewed diplomatic engagement between Washington and Tehran
