QUETTA : The Balochistan government is set to present its annual budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 on Wednesday, with Provincial Finance Minister Mir Shoaib Nosherwani tabling the document in the provincial assembly at 4pm, officials confirmed.
According to sources in the Finance Department, preparations for the budget presentation have entered their final stage. The total size of the budget is expected to exceed Rs 1.1 trillion, marking a significant fiscal outlay for the province.
Of the total amount, approximately Rs 800 billion has been allocated for non-development expenditures, while the Provincial Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) is likely to be set at Rs 300 billion. Key allocations include Rs 170 billion for pensions and other recurring expenditures, Rs 150 billion for the education sector, Rs 130 billion for law and order, and Rs 70 billion for health.
Sources further revealed that a proposal to increase salaries of provincial government employees in line with the federal government’s pattern is under active consideration. Additionally, the budget is expected to include the creation of 3,000 new jobs to address unemployment in the province.
Ahead of the assembly session, a Balochistan cabinet meeting has been convened at 3pm today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti. The cabinet will receive a detailed briefing on the budget and is expected to review and approve it before its formal presentation in the provincial assembly later in the day.
