ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced on social media platform X that a peace deal between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran has been successfully reached following intensive talks.
In his announcement, the Prime Minister stated that both sides have declared the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon. The official signing ceremony is scheduled for Friday, 19 June, in Switzerland.
PM Shehbaz expressed gratitude to the United States and Iran for their commitment to finding a diplomatic solution to the conflict. He also extended sincere appreciation to the State of Qatar for its support in mediating the agreement. Additionally, he thanked the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Türkiye for their “immense contributions” and visionary leadership in the mediation efforts.
According to the Prime Minister’s post, mediators will now facilitate a series of meetings this week. These pre-implementation discussions will lay the foundation for technical talks and the official signing ceremony.
The announcement marks a major diplomatic breakthrough after months of heightened tensions involving military operations across multiple fronts. World leaders are expected to react to the development in the coming hours.
