Interior Minister Takes Notice of Quetta Family Massacre

QUETTA: The Provincial Interior Minister of Balochistan, Mir Ziaullah Langau, has taken strict notice of the tragic incident in Quetta’s Wahdat Colony, where a father killed his wife and four minor children.

Expressing deep sorrow and grief over the horrific event, the Interior Minister directed the Inspector General (IG) of Police and the Commissioner of Quetta to submit a detailed investigative report on the matter.

Minister Langau ordered that the core motives behind this heartbreaking incident must be uncovered and presented within 24 hours.

He firmly stated that any negligence or shortcomings in the ongoing investigation of this tragic case will not be tolerated.

To counter the persistent threat of militancy and restore long-term stability, the Government of Balochistan has initiated a series of aggressive administrative, legislative, and security-led reforms.

Recognizing that traditional policing required modernization, the provincial cabinet approved the restructuring of regional law enforcement, which includes the formal integration of the Federal Levies into the provincial apparatus to streamline command and ensure operational efficiency.

Furthermore, under the leadership of Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, the government has authorized the establishment of new police stations in historically volatile areas like Kohlu, alongside specialized Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) stations in strategic border corridors including Barkhan and Rakhani.

On the legislative front, the provincial assembly passed the highly consequential Anti-Terrorism (Balochistan Amendment) Act, which significantly empowers law enforcement agencies by granting expanded preventive detention and search powers to dismantle terror networks.

Additionally, to protect critical socioeconomic infrastructure, the state enacted the Balochistan Security of Vulnerable Establishments Act, mandating high-tech surveillance systems, strict biometric access controls, and integrated private-public security protocols at sensitive public and private sites.

Alongside these kinetic and legislative operations, the provincial leadership remains committed to providing specialized protection units along national highways—particularly around critical economic nodes like Gwadar and CPEC trade routes.

Through these multi-layered interventions, the Balochistan government aims to permanently eliminate cross-border terrorism and enforce the writ of the state.
