Iranian aggression is unacceptable, we have the right to respond; UAE

ABU DHABI: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has strongly condemned what it described as missile and drone attacks allegedly launched by Iran, labeling the incidents as a “dangerous provocation” and affirming its right to respond to any threats against its sovereignty and security.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement denouncing the attacks in the strongest terms. The ministry focused on that any actions undermining the country’s stability would be met with a firm and appropriate response, in line with international law.

The statement further declared that such attacks are “completely unacceptable” and constitute a clear violation of international legal norms and the principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter.

The UAE reasserted its commitment to safeguarding its territorial integrity and ensuring the safety of its citizens and residents.

The UAE authorities claimed that a total of 15 missiles and drones were launched, most of which were intercepted and neutralized mid-air by the country’s defense systems.

The injured individuals are believed to be Indian citizens and are currently receiving medical treatment. Their condition has not been disclosed but is said to be stable. Iran has not issued an official response to the UAE’s allegations.

However, an Iranian state news agency quoted an unnamed senior official as saying that Iran had neither intended nor carried out any attack against the UAE.

The statement did not provide further clarification or details regarding the incident.

The situation has raised concerns about escalating tensions in the region, with observers urging restraint and dialogue to prevent further deterioration. The international community continues to monitor developments closely, emphasizing the importance of de-escalation and adherence to diplomatic channels.
