BANNU: Police, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and security forces conducted a joint intelligence-based operation (IBO) against suspected militants in Bannu’s Maryan area, officials said.
The operation covered Khani Khel, Barkzai and adjoining areas.
One militant of the Fitna al Khawarij was killed in an exchange of fire, while security forces arrested 10 suspects, according to officials.
A Kalashnikov rifle, three magazines and a bandolier were recovered from the slain militant.
Security personnel also seized two .303 rifles, two pistols and a repeater gun from the arrested suspects.
Officials said the operation aimed to disrupt suspected militant plans and maintain law and order in the area.
They said coordinated operations and intelligence sharing among law enforcement agencies remain critical to countering militant activity.
The joint operation by the CTD, police and security forces reflected greater coordination among the agencies, officials said.
Security agencies are continuing to monitor suspected militant activity and take pre-emptive measures to disrupt potential attacks, they said.
Officials said the state remains committed to combating terrorism through coordinated operations and protecting the lives and property of citizens.
