Khawaja Asif’s bold statement: Modi left irrelevant after military setbacks and diplomatic failures

ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has criticized Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, raising concerns about India’s current diplomatic and political trajectory.

Khawaja Asif stated that India’s leadership under Modi has faced significant setbacks over the past year. He suggested that India’s position has weakened, both strategically and diplomatically. Once projected as a rising global power under the slogan of “Shining India,” is now experiencing a decline in its international influence.

The Defence Minister stated that India’s diplomatic standing has diminished, describing the country as increasingly isolated on key global platforms. He focused on that leadership decisions and internal policies have played a role in shaping this outcome.

Asif also pointed to ideological factors, alleging that the policies associated with Hindutva have contributed to internal divisions within India. He argued that such approaches may have impacted not only domestic harmony but also the country’s global perception.

The statement comes at a time when South Asia continues to face complex geopolitical challenges, including security concerns, economic pressures, and shifting international alliances.

Indian officials have not immediately responded to these specific stated. However, in the past, New Delhi has consistently rejected similar criticisms, maintaining that its policies are aimed at national development and security.
