ISLAMABAD : Authorities have prepared a comprehensive traffic diversion plan in view of the arrival of multiple foreign delegations, including a high-level Iranian team, for talks with the United States in the capital.
According to the Islamabad Traffic Police, the Red Zone and the Extended Red Zone will remain completely closed to all non-authorized traffic. Several key arteries will be shut, including Kashmir Chowk Club Road to Srinagar Highway up to Zero Point, and the Srinagar Highway from Zero Point to Serena Chowk. Shakar Parian Road and Seventh Avenue from Chand Tara Chowk will also be closed, along with Jinnah Avenue and Blue Area Road from Khayaban Chowk.
Margalla Road from Faisal Chowk to Trail 3 will be off limits, as will the Expressway from Zero Point to Koral Chowk. The restrictions will be in effect from April 11 to 12, with heavy traffic barred from entering Islamabad during this period.
The traffic police have issued alternative routes for commuters. Those coming from GT Road Peshawar to Rawalpindi should use Taxila Motorway, Chakri, Chak Belly Road, and Rawat Road. Travelers going from GT Road Lahore to Peshawar are advised to take Rawat, Chak Belly Road, Chakri, and Taxila Motorway. Traffic moving from Faisal Avenue to Zero Point will be diverted to 9th Avenue.
For residents traveling from Bhara Kahu to Rawalpindi, Korang Road, Bani Gala, Lahtrar Road, and GT Road are the recommended alternatives. Those heading from Peshawar to Lahore should use Taxila Motorway and Tarnol Phatak to Fateh Jang Motorway. Heavy traffic coming from Lahore GT Road to Islamabad should instead take Chak Belly Road to Chakri Motorway.
Authorities have urged citizens to plan their journeys accordingly and cooperate with traffic personnel deployed across the city.
