ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court has rejected a request for the immediate transfer of former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan to Shifa Hospital.
A division bench of the Islamabad High Court, comprising Justices Arbab Muhammad Tahir and Khadim Hussain Soomro, ruled that the Chief Commissioner will form a medical board to decide whether he should be moved to a hospital outside the jail.
The proceedings featured tense exchanges between the defence, the state’s legal team, and family members of the incarcerated PTI leader.
Senior counsel Sardar Latif Khosa, representing Khan, informed the court that his client had been experiencing a retinal issue since October.
He said the Adiala Jail doctors initially treated the condition as routine, while the government concealed the worsening situation for five days. The matter only came to light when the Information Minister confirmed Khan’s transfer to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).
Khosa argued that Khan’s eyesight is now critically impaired, with just 15 percent vision remaining.
The counsel also compared the case to former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, noting that the government had previously permitted a convict to travel abroad on a Rs50 stamp paper for medical reasons.

This is a developing story.
