The Secretary General of NATO has clearly stated that the alliance will not take part in any military action against Iran.
The announcement comes amid rising regional tensions and growing international discussions about security and stability in the Middle East.
The alliance believes that the issue concerning Iran should be addressed solely through diplomatic and political channels. The spokesperson focused on that military intervention is not under consideration and that NATO’s position remains focused on dialogue and peaceful resolution.
The Secretary General reassured the international community that NATO remains fully prepared to ensure the security and defense of its member states.
However, he made it clear that in the case of Iran, the alliance will make independent decisions and avoid becoming directly involved in any conflict.
He underlined that NATO’s primary responsibility is the collective defense of its members, while also supporting global stability through diplomatic engagement.
The government of Cyprus clarified that a recent strike targeted a British military base and not Cyprus itself. The statement aimed to address concerns and prevent misunderstandings regarding the country’s position in the evolving situation.
The NATO Secretary General also confirmed that he held a telephone conversation with the President of Turkey. During the discussion, both leaders exchanged views on Iran and the broader security environment in the region.
The call indicates ongoing consultations among NATO allies to assess developments and coordinate diplomatic responses.
The Secretary General stressed that negotiations and international diplomacy remain the most effective tools to reduce tensions. He called on all parties to exercise restraint and avoid actions that could escalate the situation further.
