KARACHI: The death toll from a horrific road crash on the Super Highway near Kathore in Karachi has risen to 13, officials said on Saturday.
The victims were returning from a wedding ceremony when a speeding oil tanker rammed into their vehicle, triggering the deadly collision.
Rescue officials said 12 people died at the scene, while more than six others sustained injuries. A three-year-old boy, who was among the injured, later succumbed to his wounds during treatment, raising the total number of fatalities to 13. Five injured victims remain hospitalized in critical condition.
Edhi officials identified the deceased child as three-year-old Imran, son of Amir. Authorities shifted the bodies of the other 12 victims to the Edhi morgue. Grieving relatives urged authorities to take strict measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.
Police said the victims belonged to the Mehsud tribe. The family had traveled from Kotri to attend a wedding in Shah Latif Town in Karachi and was heading back home when the accident occurred.
The oil tanker driver also died in the crash.

Family members said they would transport the bodies to Hyderabad and Kotri for burial later in the day.
