Will Rain Wash Out Pakistan-India T20 World Cup Clash?

Rain threat looms over Pakistan vs India clash

COLOMBO: Rain threats are looming over the high-voltage ICC T20 World Cup 2026 clash between Pakistan and India scheduled for February 15.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department hourly forecast predicts thunderstorms and rain in Colombo on Sunday. Afternoon and evening showers carry a 55-60 percent probability.

Temperatures are expected to reach a high of 31°C and a low of 22°C, with light winds throughout the day. Rain chances are particularly high from 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., coinciding with match timings at the R. Premadasa Stadium.

Pakistan initially declined to play against India in solidarity with Bangladesh. However, following an official statement from the government, the team confirmed its participation, ending the uncertainty.

Unpredictable Sri Lankan weather has added new concerns for this crucial game. Pakistan faced similar weather disruptions during warm-up matches earlier in the tournament.

Under the current points system, a rain-affected match will award one point to each team.

Fans from both countries are closely monitoring the weather, hoping conditions remain favorable so one of the tournament’s most anticipated matches can be played in full.
