COLOMBO: Zimbabwe remained undefeated against Australia in T20 World Cup history after pulling off one of cricket’s greatest upsets for a second time.
A career-best bowling performance from Muzarabani, who took 4 wickets for 17 runs, and a gutsy 64 not out from Brian Bennett powered Zimbabwe to a stunning 23-run victory over a star-studded Australian side in the T20 World Cup 2026.
The match at R. Premadasa Stadium threw Group B into chaos. Zimbabwe posted an imposing 169 for 2 on a slow pitch, with strong contributions from the top four batters.
Australia never looked close to chasing the total. Matt Renshaw’s 65 off 44 balls offered hope, but Zimbabwe’s polished batting, sharp bowling, and superb fielding kept the visitors under pressure.
Despite Renshaw’s valiant effort, the Chevrons bowled out the entire Australian side for just 146 runs.
Zimbabwe’s victory reinforced their clinical form from the opening round against Oman and cemented their reputation as giant-slayers in the T20 World Cup.
Zimbabwe had beat Austrlraila in the 2007 World Cup. Zimbabwe had also beat Pakistan in 2022 World Cup
