Islamabad: Former national team opener Nasir Jamshed has apologized to the Pakistani nation and cricket fans worldwide.
According to a private TV channel report, Nasir Jamshed stated in a statement: “I apologize to the entire Pakistani nation and cricket lovers all over the world.
I am deeply remorseful for what I did. What happened not only ruined my career but also brought disgrace to the country and the nation.
This is a stain that, once attached to your name, never washes away, and all you can do is regret it for the rest of your life.”
He advised young players never to even think about getting involved in match-fixing or similar activities.
It is worth noting that Nasir Jamshed was involved in spot-fixing during the 2018 edition of the Pakistan Super League, where he deliberately played several dot balls in exchange for €30,000 from betting.
Following an investigation by the UK’s National Crime Agency, Nasir Jamshed, Yusuf Anwar, and Mohammad Ijaz were arrested.
