QUETTA: Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, chaired a high-level meeting with the Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) administration and provincial officials to review progress on previously agreed commitments.
The Chief Minister emphasized that public interest is paramount and that local communities have the first right to resources.
He expressed strong concern over delays in scholarships, gas supply to Soi Town’s Totah Colony, Adal Khan and Phong Colony, and slow local hiring. “Residents of Soi Town are still deprived of gas and women are forced to cook on wood,” he said.
Bugti criticized PPL for failing to fulfill promises despite repeated assurances. He called delays in scholarships, quotas, and local recruitment unacceptable. He also rejected excuses for unfilled positions, including the vacant watchman posts.
The Chief Minister directed immediate recruitment of locals under the sanctioned quota. He warned that failure to meet timelines would lead to consideration of alternative measures.
PPL officials assured the meeting that 80 percent of gas supply work has been completed. They pledged to resolve all pending issues promptly and address the concerns of local communities.
