Sri Lankan Board Urges PCB to play against India

Colombo: Sri Lanka Cricket Board Urges PCB to Reverse Decision on Boycotting Pakistan-India Match

The Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) has written a formal letter to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) requesting a reconsideration of the decision to boycott the Pakistan-India match scheduled in Sri Lanka.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the SLC letter highlights the significant negative impact of the PCB’s boycott announcement on cricket fans and the local economy.

Many fans have already canceled hotel bookings in Colombo following the news.

The letter states that ticket sales for the high-profile match had been completed, with prices set significantly higher than standard rates due to anticipated demand.

All logistical and security arrangements for the match have been fully finalized by the SLC.

The Sri Lankan board has assured the PCB that the Pakistani team will receive the highest level of security and hospitality during their visit.

The letter also notes that the boycott decision has adversely affected tourism in Colombo, with widespread cancellations impacting hotels, transport, and related businesses.

In a notable appeal, the SLC reminded the PCB of Sri Lanka’s longstanding support for Pakistan cricket.

The letter emphasizes that Sri Lanka has consistently toured Pakistan even during extremely difficult and challenging security situations, enduring numerous hardships to keep bilateral cricket alive.

Given this history of mutual support, the Sri Lanka Cricket Board has urged the PCB to review and reverse its boycott decision in the interest of both cricket and bilateral relations.

The match in question is part of an upcoming multi-nation series or tournament hosted by Sri Lanka, where Pakistan was originally scheduled to face arch-rivals India.
