Pakistan Restores Train Services from Balochistan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Railways has decided to restore train services from Quetta to Peshawar and Chaman starting today.

The Jaffar Express to Peshawar and the Chaman Passenger train will resume their scheduled operations, officials said.

Railway authorities stated that the Jaffar Express, which had been suspended for five days, will depart for Peshawar at 9:00 a.m. on February 5.

The Chaman Passenger train will leave for Chaman at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, the statement added.

However, the Bolan Mail service from Karachi to Quetta will remain suspended until February 12.

Train services had been halted since January 31 due to security concerns in Balochistan.

Earlier today, ISPR said in a statement that security forces have completed Operation Radd-ul-Fitan-1 in Balochistan, resulting in the killing of 216 militants.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation was carried out successfully against terrorist elements operating with foreign backing.

It was stated that the operation involved coordinated, swift, and intelligence-based actions across multiple locations in the province.

The military said the militants were seeking to target innocent civilians, including women and children, with the aim of undermining peace and development in Balochistan.

Based on verified intelligence, operations were launched on January 29, 2026, in the outskirts of Panjgur and Harnai districts. The presence of militants was described as an immediate threat to the local population.

During the initial phase, militant hideouts were effectively targeted. As a result, 41 militants linked to foreign proxy networks were killed, the statement said.

ISPR said decisive and courageous responses by security forces foiled attempts to spread instability in the province.
