ISLAMABAD: Security forces have completed Operation Radd-ul-Fitan-1 in Balochistan, resulting in the killing of 216 militants, the military said on Thursday.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation was carried out successfully against terrorist elements operating with foreign backing.
It was stated that the operation involved coordinated, swift, and intelligence-based actions across multiple locations in the province.
The military said the militants were seeking to target innocent civilians, including women and children, with the aim of undermining peace and development in Balochistan.
Based on verified intelligence, operations were launched on January 29, 2026, in the outskirts of Panjgur and Harnai districts. The presence of militants was described as an immediate threat to the local population.
During the initial phase, militant hideouts were effectively targeted. As a result, 41 militants linked to foreign proxy networks were killed, the statement said.
ISPR said decisive and courageous responses by security forces foiled attempts to spread instability in the province.
Subsequently, large-scale intelligence-based operations, combing, and clearance activities were conducted across different areas to dismantle sleeper cells.
It was stated that decisive actions were taken through joint planning, actionable intelligence, and coordinated operations involving security forces, law enforcement agencies, and intelligence services.
As a result of the clearance operations, a total of 216 militants were killed. Severe damage was inflicted on militant leadership, command-and-control structures, and operational capabilities.
A large cache of foreign-manufactured weapons, ammunition, explosives, and equipment was also recovered during the operation.
Preliminary findings indicated the provision of organized external support and logistical assistance to the militants.
During the operations, 36 civilians, including women and children, were killed. Twenty-two personnel from security forces and law enforcement agencies also lost their lives.
The military paid tribute to the fallen personnel, describing their courage, professionalism, and unwavering resolve as reflective of the highest military traditions.
The nation was said to stand in solidarity with the families of the victims.
The statement said counterterrorism efforts will continue under Pakistan’s National Action Plan until terrorism is completely eliminated.
