WEB DESK: In an unexpected turn of events, a passenger aboard the Rehman Baba Express gave birth to a baby girl on Monday after the train was halted due to a mechanical failure. The incident occurred when the train, traveling from Karachi Cantt to Tando Adam, experienced an engine breakdown and was forced to stop at Dhabeji railway station.
According to details, a woman traveling in coach number 08 experienced a sudden health emergency during the unscheduled stop. With the train delayed, she went into labor and successfully delivered a baby girl right there on the train. Railway staff and on-board doctors swiftly provided crucial first aid to both mother and newborn.
Medical personnel on the scene stated that the mother was in no condition to continue her journey post-delivery. In response, the railway police promptly contacted Rescue 1122, which dispatched an ambulance to the station. The mother and her newborn daughter were safely transferred for further medical care.
Officials confirmed that both are in stable condition and out of danger. This impromptu delivery highlights the critical role of quick emergency response, even in transit situations. The railway administration has not commented on whether the breakdown directly impacted the timing of the birth, but the delay ultimately meant medical help was stationary and able to assist effectively.
The heartwarming incident, born from a travel disruption, has been met with relief and celebration by fellow passengers and railway staff, underscoring a community effort in ensuring a safe delivery under challenging circumstances.
