Chaman Suicide Blast causes 4 deaths, several injuries

UTHAL: In a tragic incident highlighting the severe consequences of familial and social pressures, a teenage boy and girl from the Kohli community were found dead in Uthal, Lasbela district, on Monday. The victims, identified as 18-year-old Neelo, son of Deoji, and 17-year-old Paro, daughter of Raiyo, were residents of Mirpurkhas, Sindh.

According to rescue sources, the couple was discovered hanging from a tree in the Kandiaro area on the outskirts of Uthal. Their bodies were subsequently transported to the DHQ Hospital Uthal via an Edhi ambulance for legal formalities, as confirmed by hospital officials.

Preliminary reports from local sources indicate that Neelo and Paro were in a relationship while working in the fields of a local landlord in Uthal. The apparent motive behind the extreme step is believed to be a dispute over marriage, with their families reportedly refusing to consent to their union. Such tragedies are often rooted in deep-seated social conventions and caste considerations within certain communities.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths. While initial evidence points towards a suicide pact, police are examining all angles as part of standard procedure. The incident has cast a pall over the area, underscoring the devastating human cost of conflicts between personal choice and rigid social structures.

The Kohli community, primarily associated with agricultural labor in Sindh, often grapples with traditional norms that can restrict interpersonal relationships. This case has renewed conversations about the need for psychosocial support and dialogue within communities to prevent such desperate acts by young individuals.
