PB-21 Election: Federal Constitutional Court Nullifies ECP Order, Declares Saleh Bhootani Winner

ISLAMABAD: Federal Constitutional Court on Wednesday ruled in favour of Saleh Bhootani, validating his victory in the PB-21 constituency of Balochistan Assembly and overturning a previous decision by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

The court delivered the verdict on the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) Bhootani’s petition challenging the ECP’s order for a re-count of votes, which had been requested by Pakistan Peoples Party candidate Ali Hassan Zahri. Following the re-count directive, the election results in PB-21 had become disputed.

A three-member bench led by Chief Justice Aminuddin reserved the decision on January 29 after hearing arguments from both sides. The court officially announced the verdict on Wednesday, declaring Bhootani the legally elected representative of PB-21.
