Islamabad: The United States has extended an invitation to Pakistan to participate in talks with Iran.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the US has invited Pakistan to join the negotiations with Iran scheduled to take place in Istanbul. Pakistan will be represented by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, who will attend the talks.
The negotiations are set to be held on Friday in the Turkish city of Istanbul. In addition to Iran and the United States, Saudi Arabia and Qatar will also participate in the discussions.
Iranian President had instructed Foreign Minister Araqi (Araghchi) the previous day to lead Iran’s delegation in the talks in Turkey.
The talks between the two countries had been stalled after the fifth round.
Following the rising tensions between the United States and Iran, regional powers including Qatar had become actively involved in efforts to de-escalate the situation.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the upcoming talks aim to make efforts to reduce tensions between the two countries.
