ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is considering a boycott of the T20 World Cup amid uncertainty over Bangladesh’s participation, sources said.
The Pakistan Cricket Board began internal discussions after the International Cricket Council rejected Bangladesh’s request to move its matches out of host nation India.
Sources said Pakistan may pull out of the tournament if Bangladesh refuses to travel to India and opts out of the World Cup.
Bangladesh is expected to decide later on Thursday whether it will take part in the event.
Sources said several senior Bangladeshi players favor participation. The Bangladeshi government is also expected to consult players before finalizing its position.
The ICC on Wednesday formally rejected Bangladesh’s request. It said Bangladesh must play all its World Cup matches in India if it chooses to compete.
Cricket websites reported that the ICC is considering inviting another team if Bangladesh declines to play in India.
