PKMAP hails Achakzai’s nomination , vows constitutional fight

emocratic Forces Hail Achakzai’s Appointment as Opposition Leader

QUETTA; In a significant political development, Mahmood Khan Achakzai has been appointed as the Leader of the Opposition, a move hailed by his party as a major victory for democratic forces in Pakistan. The appointment comes as the nation grapples with severe crises stemming from prolonged political instability.

Outlining a robust agenda, Achakzai’s party declared its struggle will focus on halting constitutional violations, ending the suppression of the judiciary and media, and establishing a “true democratic federal parliamentary system.” The veteran politician, with a long history of advocating for democratic norms and resisting non-democratic forces, now spearheads this charged political front.

Central to the opposition’s declared mission is the immediate release of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and all political prisoners, alongside the restoration of the constitution. The party aims to reinstate parliament as the supreme state institution, bringing all others under its democratic control.

Heartfelt gratitude was extended to Imran Khan, his party workers, and members of the Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Aain-e-Pakistan (Movement for the Protection of Pakistan’s Constitution) for their support. The party assured all political entities of its unwavering commitment to continue the struggle until true democracy is established.

To catalyze this change, the opposition declared making the planned February 8, 2026, nationwide strike a success as an urgent necessity. The ultimate goal, they stated, is to dismantle the current “imposed non-elected” government and pave the way for a constitutional order.
