ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has paid tribute to the martyrs of Pakistan, describing September 6 as a historic day marked by extraordinary courage, bravery and national resolve.
In his special message on Defence and Martyrs Day, Naqvi said the sacrifices of the country’s martyrs represented an unforgettable and proud chapter in Pakistan’s history. He extended his heartfelt tribute to those who laid down their lives in defence of the country.
The interior minister said that on September 6, 1965, the enemy launched unprovoked aggression against Pakistan. Despite the adversary’s numerical advantage, he said, Pakistani armed forces demonstrated professional expertise, determination and courage and inflicted a humiliating defeat on the enemy.
Naqvi said the events of the 1965 war remained a testament to the courage and resilience of Pakistan’s armed forces. He added that the Pakistani nation had also demonstrated exemplary unity, determination and steadfastness during the conflict.
The minister said the brave sons of Pakistan had set remarkable examples of courage and sacrifice that would continue to be remembered for generations.
He maintained that the strength, determination and spirit inherited from the legacy of the country’s martyrs and Ghazis remained one of Pakistan’s greatest sources of national strength.
Naqvi also expressed solidarity with the families of the martyrs, saying the entire nation stood with them and would continue to remember the sacrifices made by their loved ones.
The interior minister said the country’s armed forces had continued to demonstrate courage and determination in defending Pakistan.
He specifically expressed pride in the Pakistan Army, Pakistan Air Force and Pakistan Navy, saying the entire nation respected their services and sacrifices.
Defence Day Spirit Remains Alive
Naqvi also referred to the successful operation “Bunyan-un-Marsoos”, saying its achievements had added another significant chapter to Pakistan’s military history.
He said the operation demonstrated that the spirit and resolve associated with September 6 remained alive and continued to inspire the nation.
The Defence Day message comes as Pakistan observes September 6 as Defence and Martyrs Day, commemorating the sacrifices of military personnel and civilians and remembering the national unity displayed during the 1965 war.
The day provides an opportunity for the nation to honour its martyrs and Ghazis while reaffirming its commitment to the country’s security, sovereignty and national unity.
