FIA registers corruption case against Najaf Hamid over alleged illegal land transfer

FIA registers corruption case against Najaf Hamid

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Corruption Cell of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has registered a criminal case against Najaf Hamid, brother of former Director General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hamid.

The case has been registered at the Anti-Corruption Circle of the FIA in Islamabad. In addition to Najaf Hamid, two other individuals, Abdul Zahoor and Khalid Munir, have also been nominated as accused in the case.

In this regard, the FIA authorities stated that Najaf Hamid was posted as a patwari in the Islamabad revenue circle at the time of the alleged incident, while Abdul Zahoor was serving as a revenue officer.

The accused are alleged to have misused their official positions to facilitate the illegal transfer of land by preparing and approving bogus mutation records and forged documents.

Furthermore, the FIA stated that the alleged actions resulted in significant loss to the public exchequer and undermined the integrity of the land revenue system. So far, the Investigators believe that the illegal transfer was carried out in a coordinated manner, with each accused playing a specific role in the preparation and verification of fraudulent documentation.

Meanwhile, the government officials focused on that the investigation will be conducted in accordance with the law and without discrimination.

“All available evidence is being collected, and the role of each individual involved is being thoroughly reviewed,” an FIA official said. “Once the investigation is completed, the case will be pursued through the appropriate legal channels.”

The FIA reasserted its commitment to combating corruption and ensuring accountability, particularly in cases involving public office holders.

The agency noted that further developments, including possible arrests or expansion of the inquiry, would depend on the outcome of ongoing investigations.
