QUETTA: Security forces foiled a Fitna al-Hindustan militant plot after intercepting attackers attempting to enter the city of Kharan in Balochistan, security officials said.
Security forces detected the movement of armed men through drone surveillance. Officials identified the group as militants linked to Fitna al-Hindustan and carried out a precision drone strike on their hideout.
Video released by security sources showed the militants’ movement before the strike. Security forces then moved in and struck the militants before they could carry out the planned attack.
Security sources said the strike targeted members of the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), which Pakistan, the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia designate as a terrorist organization. Several militants were killed in the operation, according to the officials.
According to the officials, the militants planned to spread fear among residents and disrupt law and order in the city.
Officials said the operation prevented the attackers from achieving their objectives.
Authorities said security operations would continue to protect civilians and maintain peace across Balochistan. They added that security forces remain committed to preventing militant violence in the province.
