CM Balochistan vows to work for development in 2026

QUETTA: The CM Balochistan Mir Sarfaraz Bugti has said that everyone has to vow to bring peace and development in Balochistan on the start of New Year.

He said that the peace in Balochistan is the foundation of development and the provincial government will make no compromise on that.

CM Bugti said that efforts for peace, unity, prosperity is the common vision for Balochistan.

He said that Balochistan is the base of the future of a bright Pakistan.

He hoped that the New Year will bring durable peace and development.

He also expressed his resolve to work for the durable development and harmony in Balochistan.

Mir Sarfaraz Bugti also said that the education, employment and health will be prioritized during the New Year.

Since assuming office as Chief Minister of Balochistan in March 2024, Sarfaraz Bugti has led a coalition government focused on addressing the province’s longstanding challenges in security, infrastructure, education, health, and governance amid ongoing insurgency and economic marginalization.

His administration has prioritized equitable development across underdeveloped areas, with the provincial budget for the 2024-25 fiscal year reaching Rs930 billion, emphasizing substantial allocations for over 6,600 uplift projects, including roads and basic facilities in remote regions.

Healthcare has seen significant boosts, with Rs67 billion allocated (a 30% increase), funding for the Balochistan Health Card, cancer treatments, hospital equipment, and initiatives like the new Prince Fahd Hospital in Dalbandin, while immunization coverage rose to 47% through verified reforms.

Education and social welfare efforts include expanding single-room schools, vocational training under a unified authority, the province’s first Transgender Policy for inclusion, a Minority Endowment Fund, and sports programs with a full-year calendar.

In the mining sector, viewed as a pillar of economic growth, the government has pushed for transparency, modern regulations, worker safety improvements, and attracting global investors.

Environmental and sustainability measures feature a Rs10 billion Green Initiative for solarization and green transport services, alongside climate-focused policies and hospital waste management rules.

On security, the administration has strengthened police capacity, including new training infrastructure and counter-terrorism units, reporting over 500 militants neutralized in 2025 while advocating dialogue with disgruntled elements and criticizing external support for separatism.

Additional reforms encompass aviation development plans, a proposed Bank of Balochistan, merit-based recruitment, and enhanced governance through key performance indicators and accountability probes into programs.
