ISLAMABAD: His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, is scheduled to undertake an official visit to Pakistan on December 26, 2025, at the invitation of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.

This marks the UAE President’s first official visit to Pakistan in his current capacity.

He will be accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising ministers and senior officials.

During the visit, the UAE President will hold delegation-level talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The two leaders are expected to comprehensively review bilateral relations and exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual concern.

The visit underscores the deep-rooted fraternal ties between Pakistan and the UAE, reflecting both countries’ shared commitment to further expanding cooperation in vital sectors such as trade, investment, energy, infrastructure development, and regional stability.

Pakistan and the UAE enjoy longstanding brotherly relations, bolstered by strong people-to-people contacts and significant economic partnerships.

The upcoming high-level engagement is poised to impart fresh momentum to the multifaceted bilateral collaboration for the mutual benefit of the two nations.

Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates share deep-rooted fraternal relations established shortly after the UAE’s formation in 1971, when Pakistan became one of the first countries to recognize it.

These ties are grounded in shared faith, cultural affinity, historical cooperation, and mutual respect, often described as a special strategic partnership.

A cornerstone of this relationship is the large Pakistani expatriate community in the UAE, numbering around 1.8 million, who contribute significantly to the Emirati economy across sectors like construction, services, and professionals.

In return, remittances from these workers form a vital lifeline for Pakistan, reaching approximately $5.5 to 7 billion annually in recent years, making the UAE one of the top sources of foreign inflows.

Economically, the UAE is Pakistan’s third-largest trading partner, with bilateral trade exceeding $10 billion in 2025.

The UAE has emerged as a major investor, committing substantial funds in sectors such as energy, infrastructure, railways, mining (including the Reko Diq project), IT, aviation, and digital economy.

Recent agreements include MoUs on investment, port operations, and artificial intelligence, alongside efforts to simplify visa processes for Pakistani workers.

High-level engagements in 2025, including multiple visits and meetings, have further strengthened these bonds.

Notably, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s official visit to Pakistan on December 26, 2025, his first in this capacity underscores the commitment to expanding cooperation in trade, investment, energy, and regional stability, imparting fresh momentum to the multifaceted partnership.

Overall, Pakistan-UAE relations continue to evolve from strength to strength, benefiting both nations through enhanced economic collaboration, people-to-people contacts, and shared visions for prosperity and security.
