ISLAMABAD: In a significant move to boost economic ties, the Balochistan Board of Investment and Trade (BBIT) and the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) have agreed to launch joint initiatives aimed at unlocking the investment potential of the province.
The agreement was reached during a meeting in Islamabad between BBIT Chief Executive Officer Qaim Lashari and ICCI President Sardar Tahir Mahmood. Both sides discussed enhancing mutual cooperation, exploring specific investment opportunities, and strengthening institutional linkages between the business communities of the capital and Balochistan.
CEO Lashari detailed the investor-friendly environment being cultivated in Balochistan, outlining government incentives and policy measures designed to attract capital. He highlighted a landmark development: the establishment of Balochistan’s first-ever Business Facilitation Center. “This is a historic step for the promotion of investment,” Lashari stated, emphasizing that the center will make investing in the province “easy, fast, and transparent.”
ICCI President Sardar Tahir Mahmood expressed strong interest in the vast opportunities present in sectors across Balochistan. He resolved to actively mobilize Islamabad’s business community to explore and undertake investments in the province, recognizing its untapped potential for trade and industrial development.
The meeting concluded with a firm commitment to promote business activities through sustained contact and effective collaboration. The agreed-upon joint initiatives will focus on key areas including investment promotion, trade enhancement, industrial development, and improving business facilitation services to drive economic growth.
Balochistan Governor Jafar Khan Mandokhel has emphasized the urgent need for a permanent government building for the National Highways and Motorways Police in the province, calling its current operation from a rented facility a major obstacle to road safety.
During a meeting with Motorway DIG Dr. Quraish Khan at the Governor House on Tuesday, Governor Mandokhel stressed that the lack of proper infrastructure hinders effective traffic management. He highlighted the critical issue of road fatalities, noting that thousands die in traffic accidents on Balochistan’s highways every year despite modern advancements.
