KECH: Authorities in Kech district have launched a crackdown on unregistered and illegal petrol pumps, officials said on Monday.
The move follows an order issued by the Ministry of Interior.
District administration teams carried out operations across several areas, sealing multiple unregistered petrol stations.
Traders’ association in Kech strongly condemned the closures, calling them “economic murder” and a blow to the business community.
Association leaders said the sudden shutdowns are severely disrupting commercial activities.
They warned that the move could lead to unemployment for thousands, with negative effects reaching ordinary citizens.
“Employment opportunities are already limited in underdeveloped areas like Kech,” traders said, describing the action as economic exploitation.
The business community demanded authorities reconsider the decision and provide a framework for proper registration rather than outright closures.

They warned that if the order is not withdrawn, both business owners and the public may be forced to protest.
Authorities have yet to comment on whether the shutdowns will be temporary or permanent.
