Islamabad: A court has declared five members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Assembly, including Chief Minister Suhail Afridi, as proclaimed offenders.
According to a judicial notice, proclamations have also been issued against Meena Khan, Amjad Ali, Shafiullah Jan, and Iqbal Afridi.
Sources say the accused have been declared absconders in two cases registered by the Islamabad Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).
The court has directed all five individuals to appear before it within 30 days through public notices.
The judicial advertisement warns that failure to comply within the stipulated time will result in further legal action.
It is noteworthy that the Anti-Terrorism Court had ordered the issuance of these proclamations on December 4, following which Islamabad Police published the notices in compliance with court orders.
It is worth mentioning that CM KP has also been declared proclaimed offender in the last month on account of his accessive absence from the court for the hearing of case of 26th November.
PTI had launched a protest on the D Chowk of Islamabad on year ago desptite the fact that the court had given strict orders not to do this.
Sohail Afridi and other PTI prominent leaders had then broken the security barriers, beaten the security personnel and made the provovative speeches causing unrest in Islamabad.
After the protest was undone by the law-enforcement institutions, the social media handlers of PTI had spread disinformation claiming the deaths of hundreds of PTI workers as a result of firing of the security personnel.
Although all such claims were turned down by credible media outlets on the international forum, yet it was proven that PTI can go beyond any limit in order to destabilize the law-and-order and peace.
