QUETTA: The Meteorological Department has issued a detailed weather forecast for Balochistan for the next 24 hours, indicating dry and extremely cold conditions across most districts of the province.
In this regard, as per the advisory, northern areas are expected to experience an intensified cold wave, particularly during the early morning and night hours.
Furthermore, the Meteorological officials mentioned that Quetta and several northwestern districts are likely to witness cloudy skies. In this sense, light rainfall is expected in isolated locations, while light snowfall may occur over the surrounding mountainous regions.
So far, the areas where these conditions may prevail include Quetta, Ziarat, Chaman, Pishin, Qilla Abdullah, Qilla Saifullah and nearby localities. Moreover, the department warned that the expected weather pattern could further drop temperatures in the mountainous belt, potentially posing challenges for commuters and residents.
Quetta touched zero degrees Celsius. In Kalat and Ziarat, temperatures fell to minus 2 degrees, while Zhob recorded 3 degrees, Sibi 9 degrees, Nokkundi 9 degrees, Chaman 4 degrees and Turbat remained comparatively warmer at 14 degrees.
However, coastal regions of Balochistan also reported relatively mild conditions. Gwadar recorded a minimum temperature of 18 degrees, while Jiwani registered 12 degrees.
The Meteorological Department advised citizens to dress warmly and take necessary measures to protect themselves from the cold. It urged families to pay particular attention to children and the elderly, who are more vulnerable to harsh weather conditions.
