DERA MURAD JAMALI: Anguish and desperation grip the families of six abductees from Nasirabad, who remain missing one week after being seized by armed assailants in separate incidents. The victims include irrigation department driver Ghulam Hussain Mengal, along with Waheed Solangi and Javed Rud, who were abducted near the Rabi Canal.
In a second incident, armed men on motorcycles seized Azad Ali Imrani and Abdul Samad Abro near the Tapal branch area. A sixth individual, whose identity is being verified, was also taken. The disappearances have sent families into turmoil, with elderly parents and young children described as “devastated” and unable to eat or drink from grief.
Frustration is mounting at the perceived inaction of local police. Despite the passage of seven days, authorities have been unable to secure the victims’ release, compelling the families to appeal to senior tribal elders for intervention.
The abductions have also spurred labor action, with employees of the irrigation department staging a strike to demand the safe recovery of their colleague, Ghulam Hussain Mengal. The crisis highlights the ongoing security challenges in the region, leaving multiple families in a state of limbo and pleading for urgent assistance to bring their loved ones home.
Meanwhile the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leaders declared on Wednesday that holding local government LG polls in Quetta is essential for solving citizens’ grassroots issues, as the party formally launched its campaign for the upcoming elections.
Speaking at a ceremony to issue party tickets for Zarghun Town constituencies PB-41, PB-42, and PB-43, senior leaders vowed the PPP would contest fully and emerge victorious. Parliamentary Secretary for Transport and PPP Zarghun Town Committee head, Mir Liaquat Lehri, alongside PPP Balochistan General Secretary Rabbani Khan Kakar and former Senator Lala Rozi Khan Kakar, distributed tickets to candidates contesting across various Union Councils and wards.
