Blast in DI Khan Claims Lives of Three Policemen

DI KHAN: At least three policemen, including an Assistant Sub-Inspector, were martyred in an explosion near a police mobile van in Dera Ismail Khan on Wednesday.

According to initial reports, the police mobile was on routine patrol when an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated in the Paniala area of Dera Ismail Khan. Three personnel were martyred in the blast as a result. The martyrs include ASI Gul Alam, Constable Rafiq, and driver Sakhi Jan. Another officer, Constable Azad Shah, survived the attack unharmed.

The police van has also received considerable damage, confirmed officials.

Rescue teams and a large contingent of police reached the site, and the police have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi condemned the incident and paid tribute to the policemen martyred in the blast. He stated that the martyrs, by offering their blood, have made the nation proud.

Sohail Afridi said that police personnel, despite limited resources, continue to confront terrorism on the frontlines. He described the attack as extremely cowardly and said that such actions by enemy elements cannot weaken the nation’s resolve.

The Chief Minister offered special prayers for the elevation of the ranks of the martyred officers. He also assured that the provincial government shares in the grief of the martyrs’ families and will provide them with every possible support.

Yesterday, security forces have killed seven Indian-Sponsored Khawarij in North Waziristan tribal district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The two separate operations were carried out on the basis of intelligence in North Waziristan.

The forces successfully launched targets on the havens of the militants.

One of the operation was launched in the Mir Ali area whereas the other attack was carried out in the Spinwam area of North Waziristan.

The Khawarij were involved in the attacks on the innocent civilians as well as on the security forces.
