ISLAMABAD: Five young men, including popular Pakistani TikToker Usman Warraich, were rescued after their pickup truck plunged into the Kunhar River near the tourist resort of Naran while they were reportedly filming a social media video, local authorities and rescue sources said.
The incident occurred in the Dham Dhamma area near Naran, where the group had stopped along the riverbank to record TikTok content. During filming, the pickup truck lost control and fell into the fast-flowing river, according to local sources.
Rescue teams rushed to the scene after receiving reports of the accident. Trained rafting rescue personnel used rescue boats to reach the vehicle and safely evacuate all five occupants.
No fatalities or serious injuries were immediately reported.
Videos of the rescue quickly spread across social media, where many users criticized the group for what they described as reckless behavior in pursuit of online content.
Several users called for legal action against those involved, arguing that dangerous stunts for social media put lives at risk and place an unnecessary burden on emergency services.
Others praised the rescue teams for their swift and professional response, saying their timely intervention prevented a potentially fatal tragedy.
