GWADAR: Based on confirmed intelligence, Anti-Narcotics Force successfully foiled a major international drug smuggling operation, seizing narcotics worth approximately 154.15 million US dollars.
The ANF intelligence unit had been closely monitoring a drug trafficking organization (DTO) operating in Panjgur, reportedly led by a smuggler named Ali Jan.
The network was involved in transporting narcotics from Afghanistan through Panjgur to Turbat, Gwadar, and Pasni, from where the drugs were being smuggled via sea routes to Yemen, Tanzania, and Gulf Cooperation Council countries using speedboats and small vessels.
ANF received credible information that a large consignment of drugs was being hidden inside an LPG gas container truck and transported from Panjgur through Turbat to the Gwadar/Pasni coastline for overseas shipment.
Acting swiftly, ANF intercepted the suspicious container on the M-8 Gwadar CPEC Road and took it into custody.
During a thorough search, 553.5 kilograms of crystal meth (methamphetamine) and 40 kilograms of heroin were recovered.
Two operatives of the DTO were arrested on the spot. Authorities have intensified efforts to apprehend the remaining key members of the network, including suppliers and intended receivers.
A case has been registered against the arrested suspects, and raids are underway to capture facilitators and other individuals involved.
ANF reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy against drugs and vowed to continue aggressive operations to dismantle organized drug networks.
Pakistan has taken necessary measures to cooperate with the global efforts for the Anti-Narcotics.
