QUETTA: Imran Shaukat, Deputy Inspector General of Police Quetta, and Imran Qureshi stated that the police carried out more than 80 intelligence-based operations over the past one and a half months to ensure the protection of life and property of citizens.
They said that police officers and personnel have made great sacrifices for the restoration of peace and stressed that public cooperation is essential to transform Quetta into a hub of peace.
During a media briefing at the police lines, they revealed that the Serious Crime Investigation Wing arrested four members of an inter-provincial gang involved in stealing vehicles from Sindh and smuggling them into Balochistan, recovering 20 stolen vehicles.
Police also solved five blind murder cases, arrested suspects involved in robberies, and recovered a large cache of stolen goods, including cash, weapons, ammunition, mobile phones, and a significant quantity of drugs.
Several major robbery cases were traced, leading to the recovery of over Rs 200 million worth of looted property from different suspects.
DIG Imran Shaukat said that the people of Balochistan are peace-loving and patriotic, and a handful of criminals cannot represent them.
He added that strict action is being taken against illegal businesses such as drugs, gambling, and the smuggling of Iranian fuel, warning that any police officer found facilitating such activities will be suspended and prosecuted.
He also noted that money from these illegal trades is being used to finance terrorism.
Addressing public relations, he said that open public forums (kachehris) will be organized to reduce the distance between the police and citizens, curb aerial firing, drugs, and illegal activities.
On threat alerts, he shared that earlier security warnings were handled within 24 to 36 hours, after which roads were reopened for public convenience.
Regarding the Degari case, he confirmed that multiple teams are actively pursuing the main suspect, who is believed to be hiding elsewhere.
SSP Imran Qureshi added that the law-and-order situation in Quetta has improved compared to the past, though fluctuations do occur.
He emphasized that sustained peace is only possible with public support and assured that police will continue to use all available resources to ensure the safety and security of citizens.
