QUETTA: A high-level meeting of the Oversight Committee on Strategic Projects was convened on Tuesday, chaired by Balochistan Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan, to conduct a detailed review of the progress on vital development initiatives across the province.
During the meeting, Chief Secretary CS Khan underscored the critical importance of strategic projects, stating they are fundamental to the region’s development, economic stability, and public welfare. He emphasized that the timely and transparent completion of these initiatives is paramount to achieving tangible results and delivering on the rights of the citizens.
“The timely and transparent completion of these projects is essential to achieving results within the stipulated timeframe and delivering citizens their due rights,” the Chief Secretary told the assembled officials. He further elaborated that adherence to transparency, quality, and deadlines is crucial for building public trust and ensuring that core development goals are met effectively.
Khan highlighted the broad impact of these projects, noting they are designed to significantly enhance healthcare, education, and economic opportunities, thereby laying a solid foundation for long-term prosperity in Balochistan. He stated that such strategic initiatives are key to reducing poverty, improving social services, and promoting overall public welfare.
Concluding the review, the CS issued a firm directive to all relevant officials, instructing them to ensure all development projects are completed within their specified deadlines. The meeting was attended by senior bureaucrats including Additional Chief Secretary (Development) Zahid Saleem, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat, and other relevant secretaries.
Meanwhile in a province wide week-long security operation, Balochistan police have arrested 35 suspects and confiscated a significant cache of illegal arms and narcotics, officials reported.
The targeted crackdown, conducted under the special directives of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Muhammad Tahir, aimed to dismantle criminal networks involved in a range of illegal activities. The recovered arsenal included 28 pistols and revolvers, 6 submachine guns (SMGs), 8 rifles and shotguns, over 700 rounds of ammunition, and 36 magazines.
